in the spring of 2012, after a series of public performances we gathered at the “cave studio” to record a set of songs under the supervision of danny naim.

andres vadin valdes was responsible for musical arrangements and played acoustic guitar, carlos cuba played bass, henri mejias the percussion, i sang.

chant de nuit, night song, takes you from the gentle french canadian forest runner song “a la claire fontaine” to the fiery gathering of gypsies in “les gitans, from ”bye bye blackbird” to an arabic lover’s complaint with “mawal intu ana”. from leo ferre’s “avec le temps” to a rich brazilian batucada, from “wild is the wind” to a crazy man’s ballad with “je so pazze”, from “notre sentier” a peasant’s love song to “manha de carnaval”. from “baby all the time” to“devo tornare a casa mia” and the cry of a woman torn between lover and husband. it ends with asteroun pandon, poem by sapho of mytilene asking the beautiful evening star that reunites flocks and shepherds why it separates the mother from her child.

chant de nuit reflects the essence of our live performances as it is foremost an invitation to connect to the world through music without feeling any boundaries.
